Blending Recycled High-Density Polyethylene HDPE (rHDPE) with Virgin (vHDPE) as an Effective Approach to Improve the Mechanical Properties

نویسندگان

چکیده

The mechanical properties of virgin/recycled high-density polyethylene (HDPE) blends over the complete concentration range was thoroughly investigated in this work. In particular, a focus made on long-term via fatigue. Two different mixing methods, namely powder (dry blending) and extrusion (melt blending), were used to determine effect processing conditions tensile fatigue behavior after compression molding. It found that both (modulus, ultimate strength) performances improved with increasing vHDPE content. Based obtained data, correlation between composition is reported. Moreover, it observed content led slower crack propagation rate, probably due less defects (contamination) blends. Finally, negligible difference (fatigue resistance) approaches observed, but samples produced showed viscous dissipation (heat generation) as increased, leading lower surface temperature rise which can be an advantage for specific applications.

Preliminary study of the physical and mechanical properties of soya stalk flour/high density polyethylene composite

The use of agriculture residues as filler in composites is increasing due to their strength, abundance and low cost. Soya stalks show promising renewable natural fiber. In polyethylene composites the physical and mechanical properties (flexural resistance, tensile, impacted absorbed energy, water uptake and thickness swelling) was examined at different composites. The results showed that, the m...

Dynamic Mechanical Analysis of Compatibilizer Effect on the Mechanical Properties of Wood Flour-High-Density Polyethylene Composites

In this study, effect of MAPE (maleic anhydride polyethylene) as the compatibilizer on the mechanical properties of wood-flour polyethylene composites has been investigated by using Dynamic Mechanical Analysis (DMA). Composites were made at 25% and 50% by weight fiber contents and 1% and 2% compatibilizer respectively. Controls were also made at the same fiber contents without the compatibilize...

Preparation and Properties of Recycled HDPE/Clay Hybrids

Hybrids based on recycled high density polyethylene (RHDPE) and organic clay were made by melt compounding. The influence of blending method, compatibilizers, and clay content on clay intercalation and exfoliation, RHDPE crystallization behavior, and the mechanical properties of RHDPE/clay hybrids were investigated. Both maleated polyethylene (MAPE) and titanate could improve the compatibilizat...
